Tiaco is a 12-year-old retired Special Forces dog—British Army, no less. He ended up in emergency surgery to clear his bladder of over 100 stones. Yes, 100.

This wasn’t random. Tiaco broke part of his lower spine during service—a career-ending injury that left him with long-term issues. The same issues that now aren’t covered by insurance. Because of course they’re not.
Luckily, the vets were brilliant. They got him sorted, stable, and on the road to recovery. And thanks to Hero Paws, his dad didn’t have to stress about the bill on top of everything else—like post-op care and reworking Tiaco’s daily life to keep him comfortable.

Lego recently hung up the harness in June 2024—and retirement came with a curveball. He needed surgery to remove a bunch of nasty lumpy bumps.
It was invasive, left him with some pretty brutal shark-bite scars, but true to form, he healed like a trooper.
Now? The lumps are gone, the zoomies are back, and Lego’s already over this “resting” nonsense. He’s got a whole retirement bucket list to crack on with—no time for nasties.
His hoomans aren’t taking chances though. He’s under strict surveillance—nothing gets past them now. Whatever’s ahead, he won’t be facing it alone.
Massive thanks to his people for giving Lego the kind of retirement every working dog should get.
Oh—and he even rocked up to support his hooman running the Brighton Marathon, raising money for other dogs like him. Legend.
Retired Police Dog Quantum hasn’t exactly had a quiet retirement. Like a lot of veterans, his body started breaking down after years of service—slow, painful, and relentless.
But he’s not been left to suffer in silence. His hooman’s been working side-by-side with ortho specialists at Nupsala, pulling out every stop to get him some relief.
With ongoing treatment and daily supplements, Quantum’s found his paws again. He’s still stiff, still sore—but he’s more comfortable now. And after everything he’s given, that’s the least he deserves.
