Hi, my name is Dex and I am a 7 year old German Shepherd and a Retired Military Working Dog. I retired over two years ago and have lived in a home since, so I am well-rehearsed in this whole “pet” thing, although I do still like to be kept mentally stimulated. I love chilling out in my garden so a home with an enclosed garden would be brilliant. I really enjoy my walks, but I’m not really a fan of other dogs, so a quiet area where I can chill out on my walks would be beneficial. I’m a big, strong dog so my human will need to be fit and able enough to handle me and deal with my reactiveness towards other dogs.
My current human has put a lot of work into my training since I retired so I will need someone to continue this. Experience with large breed dogs would be required.
A lot of moving around from place to place can unsettle me, so I will need a human that has no plans to move house. A quiet life with some structure.
I have never been around children so no young children, although dog savvy older children could work for me 😊
No other pets in the home.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE people, and fuss, and toys, and a appreciate a cosy home.

DEX – HAMPSHIRE
Hi my name is Sally and I am a 10 year old MALE German Shepherd Dog.
I am currently waiting to hang up my lead and finally retire after working for so long.
I have never lived in a home before so I will need a human and a home who can continue helping me to work on that. Because of this I will need a home with space to allow for gradual introduction. A home in the countryside or a farm house would be ideal. I am crate trained which will help too. I’m pretty chilled in my kennel at work.
I like people, although I can be a little bit cheeky when I am getting to know you, but once we’ve bonded I am much better. I don’t have the best recall so I will need to be kept on the lead but I’m still clever so would be happy to keep trying to learn.
I enjoy travelling in a car so would enjoy some nice little trips out. I have never been around children before so will require a home with no children.
Dogs - I could potentially live with a bitch but I can be a bit of a pest, so because if this a solo pet home would be easier & preferable.
I do have some health issues that will require medication for the remainder of my retirement.
Applicants must be willing to travel for meet and greets.

SALLY – DORSET
I am a young girl who retired early from my working role, I am still super active though and the vet said that I should have no health issues relating to this if I live my life as a pet dog.
I still have lots of work to do to become a fully fledged pet dog and need a quiet, calm and patient home to help me learn about the world outside of work as it is all so new to me and at times a little overwhelming. Children are a little too noisy & busy for my liking so I will definitely need a home free from children. I would like to be the only pet in the house too please. I am ok to be left alone in the house. I have a lot to learn, but I am super clever, I just need time and a human who would be committed to my progression and who is super understanding to my needs.
Trudy is a wonderful girl but need some more time with her long term foster for the moment.
TRUDY - CENTRAL SCOTLAND
Hi, I’m Zach and I am looking for a quiet, calm home in a relatively rural area so that I can enjoy the great outdoors with less distractions . I cannot live with children and would need to be the only pet too. I could live in a single person household or a home where both parties are comfortable with working, large breed dogs and they would need to be 100% dedicated to continuing my training. I am a nice lad, young, active, clever and healthy and just need to find the perfect home.

ZACH - CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Hi I’m Amigo and I have been looking for a home for some time now. I am really clever and would love an active home where I could finally get settled. I have never lived in a home before so would initially benefit from a relatively bare room that I could spend time in until I have learnt to live in harmony with home furnishings.
I have never spent any time around children so would need a child free home, and I would prefer to be the only pet. I have a lot still to learn but I am clever so with your help I am confident that I will get there in time. I will need an experienced home.

Hi, My name is Fedor and I'm a retired RAFP dog, I'm 9 years young and fit and healthy with no known health issues, I'm clever too. I could live with other dogs, particularly the ladies, although I'm not a big fan of large intact dogs. I can be a little bit boisterous when I play with other dogs but will listen to my person when they tell me to chill. I do love affection from my person, so I hope you are happy to give me lots of it, I looooveee my Kong and I will play together with it for as long as you will let me, and then some!! Soft toys don't last me 2 minutes so no point there 🙄. I like to game, birds I don't mind, but foxes etc and I'm offski. I love doing obedience and agility, and I'm told I'm pretty good at it, so maybe I can show you abit of that once you get to know me. I've lived in a house already so I'm pretty good in that department, I do get abit anxious when the human goes out so Hero Paws said they will find someone who can work on that with me. BIG fan of the car, especially if it's taking me somewhere nice. I learned to go in a crate too so I kinda like popping in to my bed every now and then to relax, pretty chilled at home me to be fair.
I have had a few tummy issues in the past so I get a sensitive feed in my special bowl that makes me eat a bit slower with some supplements chucked in for good measure. Pigs ears are my absolute fave though so you must be prepared to give me lots of these pleeeaassseee. I have never lived with children so I'm looking for child free home, I'd definitely want my own secure garden too. I know I sound AMAZING, and I am I promise, but I do need an experienced home.
Hi, I am Benji, an Ex-military working dog from the RAF and I am 10 years old! As you can see, I am a gorgeous boy and get told that all the time! I can be very needy but it’s just because I am very loyal and love Hooman lots. I love my walks and get excited because I just love to be outside, but I can’t go for overly long walks as I am a little older and have some mild arthritis, which I currently take medication for.
On walks I prefers to go to places where there aren’t dogs, other animals and people. I get quite barky at other dogs, kids on scooters and occasionally bicycles. So, I prefer rural areas so I can have a good sniff and have a bit more freedom. I need a home with no other animals or children. I am prone to destroy anything soft so cuddly toys and cushions are best kept away from me SORRY! I do love my KONG, balls and obviously treats.
I do need an experience home.
Hi, I’m Nelson and I have recently retired after working my whole life as a Police Dog. I am a bit of a Victor Meldrew type of character, a little grumpy but quite loveable too. I have worked as a Police dog for so long that I have become a little attached to my serious side, so I am currently learning the ways of a pet dog lifestyle where I can let my fur down and enjoy the finer things in life. I am sometimes a little bit cheeky so I need a human who can continue my training, I really just need some time to get settled in to a nice cosy home and lifestyle to progress further in these areas of my training. I have never lived with children so would need a child-free home. I don’t mind dogs if they don’t pester me too much, but I would much prefer to have a house without any other pets so that I can relax in my retirement. If you have experience with GSDs, maybe I could be the guy for you? Hero Paws will ensure that you are supported along our journey.
